Why we are not going to save the planet.
No. We are not going to save the planet. I repeat, we are not going to save the planet. And I am not being negative of pessimistic saying this. We are just not going to save the planet. Nor destroy it in fact. Let’s look at the situation logically: we are not going to save the planet because it doesn’t need us.
Simple fact: planet Earth will be here, always, even if we disappear.
Therefore we are not going to save the planet. Even if we try our best. But what we could try to save is our world. And ourselves. Which is a totally different thing.
When you start thinking about it, believing we could save our planet is quite arrogant. As if this huge planet, self-sustaining, existing for thousands and thousands of years, needed us, little human. It went through ice Age, volcanic eruption, asteroid crash, continental drift, it doesn’t NEED human beings. Not to carry on existing nor to disappear.
We are not going to save the planet. Nor destroy it. Worst case scenario (which seems to be the one happening at the moment), we will destroy nature and the environnement as we know it. And human beings. But we won’t destroy the planet.
Let’s stop thinking it’s about saving the planet. As if thinking about the environnement was altruism and love of nature. Because it’s us, human beings, who need to be saved. Saved from ourselves. We were the first living being able to change our environnement so much that the balance is modified. Deeply.
We are not going to save the planet. But we might save ourselves if we start respecting it.
